Activist Media Archives Symposium

The Studio for Media Activism & Critical Thought presents
Activist Media Archives: De/Materializing Bodies
A 1-day Symposium
Saturday, November 12, 2016
“Activist Media Archives: De/Materializing Bodies” offers activists, artists, and scholars a chance to interrogate the affective relationship between materiality, archives, and Canadian cultural practice. Within Canada, much archival material documenting the voices of marginalized groups is dematerial(iz-ed/ing); we hope to consider both why this is occurring and how we can create/have created new archival practices to reincorporate lost records, voices, affects and bodies.
The symposium will take place on the second floor of the Rogers Communication Centre (80 Gould Street). Presentations will feature the work of twenty-three scholars, artists, and activists from across Canada and the United States. The program will be finalized in the coming weeks.
There is a registration fee of $50 for faculty/waged and $25 for students and un/under-waged participants.
****If this fee would be a barrier to your attendance, please let us know and we will find alternative arrangements****
